Our Mission
The River Bible Church is a Reformed, Bible-teaching congregation committed to the authority and sufficiency of God's Word. Every Sunday, we preach through Scripture verse by verse, because we believe the church grows through the faithful teaching of the Bible, not through entertainment or trends. We are a community devoted to making disciples who make disciples, gathering weekly around the Lord's Table in communion, and carrying the gospel beyond our walls through ongoing mission work in India, Kenya, and Romania.
Whether you've been walking with Christ for decades or you're still working out what you believe, you have a place here. We are the little church with the big heart: unpretentious, doctrinally serious, and built for anyone hungry for a faith that is substantive rather than shallow.
Sundays At The River
What To Expect
If you have never been to church before — or it has been a long time — a Sunday at The River is an easy place to start. We meet at 9:00 and 11:00 on Sunday mornings at 31340 Olmstead Road in Rockwood, and the whole morning lasts about an hour. Come a few minutes early, grab a cup of coffee, and someone at the door will happily point you to the kids area and a good seat.
Our services are simple on purpose. We sing songs that put Christ at the center rather than the crowd, we pray together, we share communion every week, and then we open the Bible and work through it verse by verse. Pastor Stephen preaches the text in front of us — what it says, what it meant to its first readers, and what it means for your life on Monday morning. No gimmicks and no guilt trips. Just the Word, and the people of God responding to it.
You will not be singled out, called on, or asked to stand. We are not a perfect church, but we are a real one — and we think you will notice that before the first song ends. If you come with kids, our kids area welcomes children ages 2 through 5th grade during both services. And when the service ends, linger as long as you like. Nobody at The River rushes out the door.
